Hello Everyone!

Wow – less than 6 weeks until the Maxwell family will be in Jefferson City, MO!  Are you planning to come to the conference?  You don’t want to miss the opportunity to be encouraged & start the year off on the right foot.  Let me know if you plan to attend and how many children you will be bringing (ages too please).  Your children will have the opportunity to grow in the Lord also – so bring them along.  We hope you can come – we know you will be blessed!

The conference will be held Sept. 5 & 6 and remember there is no charge for the conference.

For info about the schedule for this great conference go to http://www.match-inc.org/JeffersonCityMissouri22008.pdf.

For more information go to the Maxwell’s website: www.titus2.com/conferenceinfo

MATCH is looking for homeschool moms, dads, sons or daughters that are in the military that need to be encouraged by others.  We would love to be able to make up a database to share with other homeschoolers that would like to get involved in sending letters, cards and goodies to encourage them and let them know they are appreciated and are being prayed for.

If you know of someone please email me at match@match-inc.org and let us know how to get things to them (emails, letters, etc).  We would also like to know which part of the military they are serving.  This information will NOT be posted on the internet but will be made available ONLY to other homeschoolers that are interested and contact our office.

May God bless all our service crew members as they fight for our freedom.

One of our board members, Sharlene Lankford, lost her mother-in-law this past week.  Please remember the family this weekend as they gather together.  The funeral is to be on Monday.

Please also remember Sharlene and her husband at this time.  Her husband has a bad heart problem and there is nothing the doctors can do.  Ben is in the Lord’s hands but if it be the Lord’s will they would certainly appreciate a touch for him so that he can be up and about his duties.

Sharlene and her family are veterans of homeschooling.  She is our vice-president and I count on her more than anyone will ever know.  Many of you have heard from her in the past when you have written for support group info.  Due to her husband and her mothers failing health we have tried to give her a break to be with her family during these trying days.

If you would like to write to her by email send it to match@match-inc.org and we will see that she gets it.  If you want to send a card send it to our headquarters at Sharlene Lankford in care of MATCH, 2203 Rhonda Dr., West Plains, MO 65775.

This has been quite a summer for our family.  Cutting back on this and that to be able to afford the gas bills and doing new things.  It has been busy but our family has enjoyed it, too.

Abigail has been gone more than home for the first time.  She is 8 going on 20 something. :)   She has gone to two camps and a VBS and loved it a whole lot.  We go tomorrow to join her for the last two days at the last camp for this year.  The first one was with one of our board members and their two boys, the VBS was at my parents place and this one she is at now is in AR with a cousin and his family.  Two help make the camps more special she is making a photo scrapbook to help show to her family and friends and help her to remember people she met and had fun with and to remind her of lessons she learned during that time.

This has given Michael and I more opportunity to spend with our youngest son.  We always enjoy being able to spend extra time with the kids but we have made it where we were able to stop rushing here and there all the time and spend special time with him.

Now we are getting ready for school to start!  We are working to get the classroom area ready for two kids this year to homeschool and that will be new for this mommy.  With having a special needs son, I am having to learn how to do things differently than I did for my two others.  But God is supplying our needs.  If you have a special needs child make sure to check out http://www.nathhan.com/ which works with all sorts of special needs children and are very encouraging.  If you are a HSLDA member you can also get help from their special needs specialist at http://www.hslda.org/strugglinglearner/ and as a member you can apply for help through Home School Foundation at http://www.homeschoolfoundation.org/.

Another way to get prepared for this year is to attend the homeschool online convention that we have online at http://match-inc.org/convention (this goes year around), the special online class by Cindy Rushton and her friends at http://BacktoSchoolBlast.com/.  You can either join for free and just take part for the day or for $29.95.  You will meet some wonderful people and get to chat with them and you will learn to love Cindy.  Make sure to bring your Kleenexes! Cindy also does a workshop once a week that you can take part in.  One other even that you don’t want to miss out on is the Heart of the Matter Online Homeschool Virtual Conference at http://www.hotmconference.com/.  This is a four day online conference that is packed full of workshops that you will find helpful.  At the end of each workshop you will be able to ask questions.

Remember to take time to enjoy you children, they aren’t with us for long.  I have been reminded of that over and over this summer.  So play with them and have some special memories made!

We hope and pray that you will all have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,

Orilla Crider, Director

I received this morning a wonderful email from my mother-in-law about a man that has made a replica of Noah’s Ark.  If you are looking for something interesting to do with you children while you are studying this are of the Bible, I highly recommend this site http://www.pbase.com/paulthedane/noahs_ark.  This is over in the Netherlands so it will be hard to actually go and visit it but I think you will find the links below very interesting.

http://www.arkvannoach.com/language/en/ make sure to click through the different links at the top to be able to enjoy it all.  There are pictures of the ark after it was built and some of while he was working on it.

What a blessed reminder of God’s mercy to us and then after the flood come the beautiful rainbow in the sky of His promise to never distroy the earth this way again.

We hope you enjoy this little journey.

This past weekend I attended my first virtual conference and it was wonderful.  With a virtual conference you don’t have to worry about the gas bills, motel bills or someone to watch the youngins.

Cindy Rushton is a wonderful speaker and has a heart for young people of all ages.  The way that hers is set up you hear her talk and are able to chat with all the others that are online at the same time.  I was blessed not only by Cindy sharing her heart in the many different areas but also for the help that I received from the other women that were in the chat room.  You may not understand but as a director, I don’t get to go to the workshops when we have a booth and I need to be regased just as much as the next person.

If you buy a ticket to her events you receive all the freebies (they are worth it!), the mp3 of the workshops and all the chat text.  But you can join in live and not buy any of this and get lots of help!  Check out her next event coming up “Back to School Blast” at http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=6ssBZ&m=9TCbqUmZ532GP&b=rbhWs3jeSmj84659ENbC8Q.  Some of the topics will be Enjoying Your Homeschool Journey with Maridel Willer, Homeschooling on a Shoestring with Cindy Rushton, The Making of an Artist with Jill Novak, Raising Children of Destiny with Maridel Willer,Getting into the Bible as a Homeschool Family with Molly Randolph, Relax! with Molly Randolph, Girlhood’s Most Cherished Lessons with Jill Novak, Overwhelmed? How to Simplify Home Education with Maridel Willer,Homeschooling with Index Cards with Molly Randolph, Writing Fiction from Fact with Jill Novak, Using Great Books to Teach and Inspire with Maridel Willer, PLUS! MORE!  Make sure you have plenty of Kleenexes on hand! you will need them!!

When will the virtual conference be?  It will be Friday, August 8 through Saturday, August 9.  The tickets are only $29.95 and are worth it all!!

While we are on the subject of virtual conferences you can also take part in a brand new one.  The Heart of the Matter Online Homeschool Convention.  This conference will take play July 31st through August 3rd.  The price for this event is $29.95, but you are guarenteed to feel your cup up.

Another announcement is that the Teacher Book Bag has her store opended now!  Everyone is free to join her now FREE website.  They are still working to get everything over to the new site, so be patient.  She is doing a marvelous job and even the items in her store is a wonderful addition but she is keeping the cost to as low as she can.  You can get to her store by going to http://shop.homeschoolteacherbookbag.us/main.sc and to the website http://teacherbookbag.net/ make sure to keep tabs on her blogging it is wonderful!

May God richly bless this beautiful day to you and your family.

Your director for Him and Homeschoolers,

Orilla Crider
