Lighting Fires for Homeschoolers

Homeschool thoughts

Do you feel like you are running on a treadmill? Do you want to have sweet relationships with your children as they are growing up and not experience the heartache of rebellion and immorality? Do your children have greater purpose in life than just to have fun? Be challenged and find ways that God can set your family on a journey of spiritual unity, purpose, and direction.

The Encouragement for the Homeschool Family Conference will be held September 18th (7-9:30 p.m.) and 19th (9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.) at Military Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas (near Little Rock). There is no cost for the conference but love offering boxes will be on the book tables to help with the Maxwells’ traveling expenses. Pre-registration is requested. For more information on the conference, please visit www.Titus2.com, and click Conferences on the side bar, or contact Jeana Anderson (jeana@besmiley.com or 501-233-6269) or Sarah Maxwell (info@Titus2.com or

Seasons, Trees and Me for preschool and kindergärtners is a beautiful ebook that holds lots of fun and learning for both the kids and moms, published by the Teacher Book Bag.  My handicapped 6 yr old enjoyed it so much!  The pictures are bright and colorful and print off wonderfully in color or in black and white.  You will find handwriting materials to work with the child that are even fun to do.  They will learn how to do tally marks, bar graphs, etc and what each season is like.  There is different things to do with different subjects for example for science have fun looking at the different temperatures during the different seasons.  There are crafty things to do to help them use scissors and don’t forget those items that they love to paste, exercise things that you can help them move around and do when they get tired of being still.

The fun part about all of this book is the part that shows the child that they are just as special as each season is to life.  You will find a list of books that you can use to make it more fun throughout this wonderful study.  And towards the end you will find a wonderful little book to make with them all about “God Made Me Special”.

This is a great e-book and I highly recommend it!

Tandy Leather Factor has come up with a new idea and they would like to invite 12 people to see the introducation for FREE.  July 23 and July 30 they will be holdinga free class from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  The class is for ages 8-13.  The buckets are designed to include history and vocabulary, along with creativity, math and dexterity skills.  If you would like to sign up for the class call 417-862-8669 to reserve your place.

It will be held at Trandy Leather Factory

All –

If you think we cannot make a difference, look at what we did in Jefferson City on May 14th. Over 3000 people made their voices heard and changed the law, on less than 24 hours notice. You responded, God delivered, and Mo’s Governor signed SB 291 yesterday (July 13th). He signed SB 47 & 232 (pro-homeschool bills) earlier.

We are a force to be reckoned with, if we make our voices heard. Get the word out, MARK YOUR Calendars (July 21-23), research parentalrights.org so you can make informed arguments when you call, and LET’S SHUT DOWN THE SWITCH BOARD AGAIN!!! Your calls forced the UN Ambassador’s office to unplug the phone over the UN CRoC, so they could ignore you. Your congressional reps won’t be able to do that. Call their DC and local offices. Make our voice heard.

This is THE fight for the hearts and minds of our children, given in trust to us by God. On that glorious day, I will have plenty of sins for Him to forgive, but accepting my responsibility for my children will not be one of them.

Because parental rights are the heart of home education, FHE is an Allied Organization with ParentalRights.org.

Pass this on to all of our home-school and pro-family friends. The UN Convention of the Rights of the Child is anti-family, anti-God, and anti-American. The very few points in the Treaty that are helpful to children are already US Law and State Law. The bad parts aren’t, but will become US Law if the UN CRoC is ratified by Congress, and signed by a legitimate Presidential signature. Our best hope is a pre-emptive Amendment to the US Constitution.

Prepare (with info), Pray (putting on the full armor of God), Phone. July 21-23 … do NOT be discouraged if line is busy, keep trying…

Remember the 3 P’s – Prepare, Pray, Phone. July 21-23. The life of our Nation depends on you.

In Christ’s Service to Home Educators,

Brad

Dear Missouri Supporter,

It’s time to get more cosponsors for the Parental Rights Amendment! In order to pass the Parental Rights Amendment we need bipartisan support from those in Congress, and we are planning a Cosponsor Drive for Tuesday, July 21, through Thursday, July 23. In this nationwide effort to get support for the Parental Rights Amendment we will be calling all members of the U.S. House and Senate who are not already cosponsors. If your U.S. Representative and Senators are not cosponsors, we need you to call them during our three-day Cosponsor Drive.

U.S. Representatives who are not cosponsors of the Parental Rights Amendment:

Representative William Lacy Clay, Jr. (MO-1) Democrat – 202-225-2406

Representative Russ Carnahan (MO-3) Democrat – 202-225-2671

Representative Ike Skelton (MO-4) Democrat – 202-225-2876

Representative Emanuel Cleaver (MO-5) Democrat – 202-225-4535

Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-8) – 202-225-4404

Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) – 202-225-2956

If any of these is your Representative, we need you to call their office sometime during our three-day Cosponsor Drive and urge them to cosponsor H.J.Res. 42, the Parental Rights Amendment in the House (find your Representative by typing your zip code into the box here.) We are especially targeting Democrats, since so few of that party have agreed to cosponsor the Amendment so far.

If your Representative is not listed above, send an email thanking them for cosponsoring the Parental Rights Amendment. Thanking those who cosponsor lets them know we appreciate their support. To view the list of current cosponsors, click here.

The Parental Rights Amendment was also introduced in the U.S. Senate this past May by Senator DeMint, and it’s time to get Senate cosponsors! Call your Senators and urge them to cosponsor S.J.Res.16, the Parental Rights Amendment, in the Senate.

Senator Kit Bond – 202-224-5721

Senator Claire McCaskill – 202-224-6154

Thank you for your participation in this important Congressional Phone Campaign right before Congress adjourns for the summer. Senators and Representatives will soon return to their home districts for the August summer work period. ParentalRights.Org is organizing visits to local Congressional offices by 20 constituents with 1,000 activist signatures, to be scheduled during that time. A face-to-face group meeting with your Congressman is an extremely powerful and effective way to communicate clearly the message of the Parental Rights Amendment. If you would like to participate in these local meetings please contact Region 3 Grassroots Coordinator Jason Heki (jason@parentalrights.org).

Dear Homeschool Friends and Families,

Attached is the updated registration form for the FHE Back-to-School Homeschool & Leadership Conference.  Due to changes in Missouri law and interest from homeschoolers across the state to learn about these changes, we have broadened the scope of this conference from the original focus of building leaders.  While that is still a main objective, educating Missouri homeschoolers about these updated statutes and training new homeschoolers in record-keeping and curriculum planning has been added to our list of goals.  HSLDA Attorney, Scott Woodruff, is our keynote speaker and will address the law directly in a free session on Friday, August 7, and then present two workshops on Saturday.

We have also had to change the venue to a larger facility.  The new location is First Baptist Church of Grandview, 1416 Main Street, Grandview, MO.  This location offers easy access from 71 Highway, a larger vendor hall, and more classroom space.

Please feel free to share this with other families, your friends, support groups, e-groups, etc.

Hello Missouri educators!

I am the contest coordinator for the 5th Grade Arbor Day Poster Contest in Missouri and wanted to give you a brief update on the changes in store for next year’s contest:

*         We are going entirely electronic this year.  Packets will not be printed by the National Arbor Day Foundation.  Instead we will send postcards to 5th grade art teachers to announce the contest.  The postcard will direct teachers to the website to download the materials.

*      We will mail the postcards in late September/early October.  Missouri’s deadline for next year will be February 11th.  The theme will be “Trees are Terrific….and Energy Wise!”

*         I am building an email group for 5th grade teachers.  If you have email addresses for 5th grade teachers who would like to receive the email notification, please send them to me so I can add them to my email group.

Thanks for all your help in making the contest a success.  More information will be coming this fall!

Sincerely,

Donna Baldwin

Preschoolers E-Book is a wonderful book for mom’s who are looking to homeschool and have preschoolers and even kindergarten age children!  It is written by different authors but you will find so much help in this 85 page book!!

It starts out explaining how to teach your little ones.  As we all know we start teaching our little ones from the very beginning with our voices before they are born and then by little things that we do from the time they are born.  But as they grow closer to school age the more they become interested in learning “school things”.  This chapter will help you with new ideas to help that little one to learn more.

One of my favorite chapters was the one on field trips.  Everyone enjoys a good field trip and that also includes our preschoolers.  It was good to hear that our kids don’t have to be perfect to be able to go on a field trip too.

Another interesting chapter as on chores.  This has been a struggle for even my older kids but with some of the ideas presented in this chapter, I’m looking forward to seeing if we can’t get this more under control.

Only have one little one.  This book has a chapter just for you!!  It also has a chapter on multi-teaching.

Are you looking for creative ways to teach your preschooler?  This e-book has some great ideas.  Clean ideas for those that don’t like messy houses and some very messy ideas that kids love!  It also has ideas how to keep your preschoolers occupied while teaching your other kids or doing that housework that seems to always need attention.

This is a handy book for preschool moms and I highly recommend it!  I am even using ideas from it for my handicapped kindergarten that is more in the preschool area of his learning.

Where can you get it?  Go to http://www.TheHomeschoolMagazine.com.
