For their own sake, parents should have an organized approach to teaching in the home. Parents are urged to keep a daily log, plan book, or other written record of content and activities in the home school. A file of each child's work and any evaluations of his progress is another helpful tool. These are for the use of the parent only.

These records should never be shown to any authorities, with this exception: The prosecuting attorney of the county could be shown a daily log of the home school to verify that it is a home school. According to the law, producing a daily log which documents a course of instruction in keeping with the law would be a defense to any prosecution and to any charge of violating the law.
