Homemade Convenience Foods by ~ Marcia K. Washburn – Review
This awesome book is a household MUST!! So many times we run out to buy fast food so that we can save time, but this is not only expensive, but not healthy for us. We hear how obesed and unhealthy our nation is now days, well, this will help you get that health, money and enjoyable meals back on your table.
Mrs. Washburn has done an excellent job of helping us taking the guessing out of how we should stock our kitchen to help us be more efficient in our home preparing meals. We as homeschool wives and mothers seem to be so busy running around trying to keep everything going smoothly and I know there are times that I wonder how much more I can do.
Do you feel this way? This book is for you!!
The first section of the book is The Method. Her method isn’t Once-a-Month cooking or double meals to put into the freezer. She does it by doing up 3 different pantries. Each section she has gone into detail what you need to do.
- Freezer Pantry
- The Rationale
- How to Stock Your Freezer Pantry
- Equipment
- Meats
- Other Freezer Necessities
- Freezer Pantry Basics
- Cupboard Pantry
- Cupboard Pantry Basics
- Refrigerator Pantry
- Refrigerator Pantry Basics
After going into a lot of detail what you need to do to get stocked up, she actually gives some wonderful recipes. Here is the categories that she has:
- Ground Beef
- Sausage
- Pork
- Beef
- Poultry
- Bread Mix
- Kid-Friendly
Another thing that I love about this book is she literately breaks it all down so you see how much time you should be spending to do each thing.
This is a terrific book and would also be good to teach your children in cooking class, too. MATCH highly recommends this wonderful resource.
